Frequent transcription, written and dictation, on both business, medical and personal work produced by the doctor. Having to do so created habits of great value in structure and punctuation that transferred over into my personal writing skills.
Also business to business communication by letter and fax was a common task with attention to detail when invoicing major corporate clients keeping the tone friendly and professional.
In contacting insurance companies for payment a highly detailed narrative of services rendered would need to be compiled to help demonstrate why things were done and how one process would relate to another etc. This was technical medical writing in regards to infusion therapy.
